I’m truly inspired by your dedication to motivating educators to continue to explore ourselves and ask questions about our participation in educational systems which create and perpetuate inequality and exclusion. Your background, experiences, and the perspectives that you have shared have given me much to contemplate and reflect upon, in addition to the insights and guidance exchanged in Montessori community spaces.
The steps that you outlined in the video (understanding, interrupting, and illuminating) seem pivotal in providing equitable education. I completely agree that asking questions such as "Whose story is not being told?" as well as "Why?" and "How?" are essential when planning lessons and examining our instructional approaches.
I hope to continue to grow from listening to and learning from others, as well as by reflecting upon myself, my intentions, and impact in order to be a better advocate and ally.
Choosing the revolution. Every day.
With gratitude and appreciation,
Hello Ms. Maati Wafford!
I am soo happy to find you through an article written by Heather Gerker in the Embracing Equity platform. As a White woman and Montessorian, I am diving deep into the Work (and the many layers of it) to truly be an abolitionist, a revolutionary, a co-conspirator.
Thank you so much for your inspiration, dedication, Grace, and expertise. I look forward to following and participating in more of your Work.
